This paper examines postcolonialism as a critical framework for understanding how the political, economic, and cultural structures established during colonial rule continue to shape formerly colonized societies. It explores the ways in which colonial power relations persist through language, education, governance, and global economic systems, even after formal independence. Drawing on key thinkers such as Edward Said, Homi Bhabha, and Gayatri Spivak, the paper analyzes concepts like othering, hybridity, and subalternity to demonstrate how identities are constructed and contested in postcolonial contexts. Through historical examples and theoretical insights, the paper argues that postcolonialism is not only a critique of the past but also a tool for understanding contemporary inequalities and the ongoing struggle for cultural recognition, political sovereignty, and decolonization.
